Blodwit's back....

Blodwit is very sorry, he has been very lazy in not updating his blog this year. The Big Man has just had 'words' with him and he promises to update it more regularly (we'll see!).

Well after breaking all records and sending out 6949 letters last year, we had our first order in May, yes May, this year and we've already processed nearly 2,500 letters so far this year.

We found over the past few years that even when letters were posted together, they sometimes arrived days apart and that children worried why they hadn't had their letter, so the ingenious elves have made a major improvement this year and now guarantee that when multiple letters are ordered for the same address they will be delivered together to ensure that the children are happy (assuming that they are ordered at the same time).

Blodwit is now Santa's chief little helper in charge of R&D (Rudolph and Dancer) at Santa's workshop. One of his main responsibilities (as well as looking after Elf and Safety) is helping Santa to reply to all the letters he receives from excited boys and girls all over the world. To bring Santa into the 21st Century, Blodwit created his website www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk to make it really easy for mums and dads and grandparents to let Santa know what to write in his reply letters.

Blodwit has made sure that Santa's Reply Letter website is very easy to use and that it gives you the opportunity to create a truly unique letter for each child. You can enter approximately a dozen pieces of information about your child and you will then be given a selection of paragraphs to select from based on the age of the child and the information you have provided - your child will be amazed at how much Santa (or Father Christmas - your choice!) - knows about them and their Christmas routine! As far as Blodwit is aware, no other website offers such versatility and choice whilst remaining extremely straightforward to use.

Blodwit - the beginning

Ho Ho Ho to you all!

Let me introduce Blodwit, Elf No 26 - Santa's chief little helper for www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk.

A long long time ago, when Santa was still in shorts, climbing trees and hiding stones in snow balls, two little elves - Mr Alf and Mrs Dimm Witt - decided it was time to increase the elf population. A few days later out he popped. "Bloddy Hell, that was quick" exclaimed Dimm - and so, Bloddy Hell Witt (or Blodwit for short) was born.

Over the centuries as Santa went through his 'teenage' years and Blodwit grew to his full size of 3ft 6 (about 1m), they became great friends. Blodwit helped Santa with his homework and Santa helped Blodwith with his shopping - mainly reaching the items on the higher shelves for him.

Blodwit is now happily married to Brenda Bumwhistle and, in traditional elf style, has taken her surname as his own. For obvious reasons, however, Blodwit Bumwhistle prefers to be know solely by his first name.

Blodwit Meets Bumfit

Today Blodwit had a meeting with Bumfit, Elf No. 15. Bumfit is going be in charge of the Adult Letters From Santa website next year (www.adultlettersfromsanta.co.uk). At the moment the Adult Letters From Santa website is still part of www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk but next year it will have its own branding and website and will offer rather naughtier paragraphs for adults to choose from when creating their own letters to each other.

Bumfit (Elf No 15) will also have his own blog which will explain how he got his name and keep you up-to-date with developments on his website....

Blodwit Treks Through The Snow

All the letters written before 1st December have now been posted - over 3,000 this year. We trekked through snow and ice to get all the letters from Santa to the post office!!

Christmas Gets Earlier Every Year

Blodwit (Elf No 26) - Santa's chief little helper here again. I'm back from my summer holidays and raring to go, ready to send out Reply Letters From Santa for Christmas 2010. There are lots of very organised people this year - we have already had 100 orders and it's only the 10th October. The shops in the North Pole are selling toys at half price and Santa is feeling very generous and giving a discount for early orders for Letters from him. You can visit www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk/2010 during October and get 50 pence per letter off the standard price - that means they are just £3.49 each (including the Free Reindeer Dust).

Right, must take Roody and Prancer to the gym - they ate so much of the magical Reindeer Dust last year that they are still trying to work it off.....

Blodwit can't believe that we have already had our first request for two letters from Santa on www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk - on 27th August 2010. Santa is still enjoying his summer holidays but it has given him a quick nudge that there are only 119 sleeps until Christmas!!!!!

Well, what a record-breaking year! 6180 letters sent to very happy and excited boys and girls all over the world. Letters were sent from Santa to children in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States and of course the UK!

Letter Tracking Improvements

We like to keep Blodwit and the other elf-programmers who work on the Reply Letters From Santa website busy, so we have persuaded them to further improve the Track Your Letter functionality on the website.

You can now track your letters by entering the Letter Reference number, the Payment Reference number or your e-mail address and you will be advised whether Santa has written the letters to your children (and when, if applicable); if they've been printed; and when they were posted.

We believe that customer service is vital and pride ourselves on the standard of customer service we provide. Blodwit answers e-mail enquiries as soon as he possibly can and has taken several payments over the phone from customers who have experienced problems (usually forgotten their Verified by Visa password!).

Blodwit Breaks All Records

Well, Blodwit has been extremely busy over the last few weeks. He has now helped Santa to send out a total of over 5000 letters (with free reindeer dust) all over the world - two and a half times the total number for our first year last year. He has checked letters which Santa has written to children in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States and of course the UK.

Blodwit and his elfmates have had some wonderful comments from very happy parents and grandparents - they can be read here. Blodwit has also had to explain to a few customers - who've been a bit concerned at the length of time letters have taken to arrive - that unfortunately once letters from Santa have been put into the post, we are in the hands of the elves at the Royal Mail. Every day, all letters which Santa has written are checked against Santa's list and they are then posted together - whether to addresses in the UK, or further afield. Blodwit then sends an e-mail to let you know that the letters have been posted and are on their way. We are very pleased to say that all letters have eventually arrived safely - although sometimes with a couple of days between the first and second ones.

Orders For Reply Letters From Santa Reach A New Record

It's lunchtime on Thursday 3rd December 2009 and Blodwit and his little elf workmates are celebrating in style - they've just received the 3000th order for Reply Letters From Santa. They are now regularly receiving 300 orders a day and are working all hours to keep up with the demand. They've had some wonderful feedback about the letters and the website - especially how easy it is to use, and how uniquely the letters can be personalised. Blodwit is busy printing the letters on Santa's behalf (Santa really can't get to grips with these 'computer things'), and his elf-mates are folding them and putting in the free sachet of magical reindeer dust ready to send to all the excited little boys and girls around the world.

Blodwit's Reindeer Dust Episode

Well... after writing a few days ago that we thought the Elf and Safety officials were being a bit over zealous by not allowing us to send free sachets of Reindeer Dust to children under 3 years old, Blodwit thinks it only fair that he should report that he found one of our little elves had managed to sneak some Reindeer Dust out of the workshop and was caught eating it in secret.

We are pleased to report that there was no lasting damage - the only noticeable side-effect was that his poo was rather shiny for a few days - but it did at least make his potty sparkle! And, of course, the reindeer were rather miffed that they wouldn't be getting their oats for breakfast the next morning!

Reindeer Dust

At the North Pole, Blodwit is in charge of Reindeer Dust Development. Over the years he has been responsible for making thousands of little sachets of Reindeer Dust (or Reindeer Food as some humans refer to it) to send out with Santa's Reply Letters.

Rudolph and all of the other reindeer love the oats and can see the glitter (which goes absolutely everywhere) from miles away up in the sky. That's why Blodwit makes sure that there is a free sachet of Reindeer Dust with every reply letter that Santa sends from the information parents give on www.replylettersfromsanta.co.uk. Unfortunately because the Elf and Safety officials in the UK and other countries think we're not very bright, we can't send it to children under three years old. We think that they worry that little children might eat it instead of sprinkling it outside on Christmas Eve!!
